With the Mercury dipping and the cravings for gluttony indulgences on a rise, who wouldn’t want to unwind their day under the stars or get out on a weekend while enjoying hearty food and drinks under the sunlight?

If you are one and if you wish to take a break from the monotonous indoor fine dining restaurants that are set between concrete walls and adorned with artifacts, and are wanting to experiment with your surroundings and food, then Kylin Skybar might just be the right place for you.

Perched atop, on the terrace of Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, Kylin serves up a variety of Oriental dishes to binge on while providing an ambience that is serene and peaceful.
Enter and you’ll be amazed by the simplicity of the lower level which serves up an array of Japanese dishes (Live Teppanyaki too).
Wooden hues pervade the entire area with muted tones of yellow and deep crimson, which lead to a vibrant mood all together.

Take the staircase and you’ll be transported to the airy skybar, which is marked by the individual canopies and flowy white fabric combined with the comfortable sofa seating and a bar which offers some heady drinks. The dim lit place is perfect for a romantic dinner or roaring weekend lunches under the sun.

Take your pick from the number of cuisines that it offers, which include- Chinese, Japanese, Asian, Thai and Malasian, and you’ll be rewarded for your choices. Not only food, but the bar menu too offers a wide variety of spirits to choose from, ensuring that no patron goes unsatisfied.

Recently, Kylin has introduced the sunday sundowner brunch, which is priced at Rs. 995 pp with unlimited beer and barbecue offerings. It starts at 12 noon and goes upto 5 in the evening, and thus, making it the longest sundowner in the city. The sundowner brunch will offer a curated selection of oriental vegetarian and non vegetarian barbecue offerings, which will leave you craving for more. So if you wish to spend a lazy sunday, eating and drinking away all the perils, then this is it.

A few days back I had visited Kylin to experience this multi award winning and one of a kind skybar. But before taking the flight of stairs, I decided to warm myself up with a few glasses of wine, which I had along with tender and delicious chicken fingers in chilli sauce and wok fried diced chicken with smoked chillies. I also tried the simpleΒ JapaneseΒ greens from the teppanyaki section. But it was the salmon sushi, for which I’d want to revisit kylin premier asap.

After this, I moved onto the skybar where I sat in a cabana and the gastronomical delights started to flow in abundance. Though I tried quite a few dishes from there menu, my palate recognised the favourites.

Topping the favourites list would be the pork spare ribs and devil prawns. The pork ribs had a delicious crunch on the outside and where succulent from the inside. Tossed with a few vegetables and sweet and spicy sauce, these were without doubt the best pork ribs I’ve had until now. The devil prawns teppanyaki were spicy, and the spices didn’t overpower the flavour of the prawns. I paired the spicy prawns along with a glass of bellini.

I tried two signature sushi rolls, spicy salmon and dragon roll. Both of which were sublimely magnificent. After looking at the gorgeous chicken and coriander dimsums, I couldn’t resist myself from marching my chop sticks towards them, and it was absolutely worth it. Thin layer of rice flour enveloped the juicy chicken in the dimsums, and went well with the red sauce that accompanied.

From the robatta grill, I tried the corn on the cob and char grilled chicken in korean chilli. Amongst the two, the grilled chicken had an upper hand, as I felt that the marinade on the corn on the cob was a bit too sweet for my palate.

After all this gluttony, sweet offerings had to be contemplated as no meal can end well without a drool worthy dessert. Fortunately, one of the two desserts that arrived saved the day for me. And it was fried ice cream spring rolls. Though weird it may sound or look, these crispy deep fried spring rolls have vanilla ice cream filling and taste rather good. The chocolate cake with ice cream was a fair dessert, but it would be the unusual ice cream spring rolls that stole the limelight.

Overall, my experience at the Kylin Skybar turned out to be great and I would certainly look forward to visit this place again very soon.
And I assure you that with its soothing lighting, spacious interiors, delicious food and courteous service, your visit to Kylin Skybar is guaranteed to have a lasting impression.
