A place that has been recommended to me by many, Happy Hakka was happy to deliver me some dishes and I was certainly happy after having devoured all the dishes.
I started with the teasy cheesy dumplings, which was an interesting Chinese-Italian take on these deep fried dumplings that had veggies and molten cheese with a hint of oregano. Next I binged onto the chicken sui mai and chicken canton dim sums. While both tasted great with the sweet chilli and my all time favourite, green onion sauce, I would prefer sui mai over chicken canton dimsum as it had a thinner encasing.
The zesty chicken wings were tossed in a sweet and spicy black peppercorn glaze and were flavour-packed with the hint of garlic. In order to avoid wastage in main course, I opted for their Meal in a Box, which is fulfilling, convenient to eat and easy on pocket. The malay mie goreng, a Malaysian dish prepared with ramen noodles tossed with carrots, mushrooms and pok choy along with soy sesame seasoning, was my favourite dish because of the balance of flavour and textures with the soft noodles and crunchy vegetables. Chicken ninja claimed to be a spicy dish and given my love for spicy food, I ended up ordering it. But it wasn’t as spicy as I would have wanted it to be. Though I added their chilli garlic paste to the thin noodles that came in the meal, and I was no less than being satisfied.
Confession: Overall, my meal from Happy Hakka went well. Timely delivery, neat packaging and good food made it a nice experience. I will look forward to their soups and salads the next time I order. Though I did receive spoons and forks, I would like if they could send across chopsticks as well!
Heads up: They have an easy-to-use application available on the play store and app store which make your ordering a simple affair.
