Laddoos happen to be a savior of a mithai, thanks to how easy they are to make, and the good shelf life, makes it viable to make them in advance, and gorge, whenever cravings strike.
Classic, of course, is besan laddoo, and then there is the simple 2 ingredient coconut laddoos (Condenced milk and Dessicated coconut), but if you’re looking for something different and exciting, something that children, and adults, would enjoy, then try my recipe of these Coconut surprise oreo laddoos, that are made with everyone’s favourite oreo cookies, and are stuffed with coconut laddoos, giving you the best of both words.
Ingredients: 1/2 cup desiccated coconut 1/4 cup condensed milk 2 packets Oreo cookies 1/2 cup melted dark chocolate 1/4 cup ghee Dried rose petals, pistachios, almonds for garnish
Steps: 1. First make coconut laddoos by combining desiccated coconut and condensed milk in a pan on low heat. Remove from heat, cool and make small baby laddoos. Keep them aside. 2. Combine 2 packets of crushed Oreos, 1/2 cup melted dark chocolate, 1/4 cup ghee. Combine to form a dough. {If it appears too dry, adjust by adding more ghee}. 3. Flatten a little chocolate oreo dough, place the coconut laddoo inside, and then make a ball. The coconut laddoo would be inside, covered with a layer of the dark chocolate oreo layer. 4. Garnish with dried rose petals and dried fruits like almonds and pistachios and serve.
PS: The laddoos will easily last for 4-5 days in the refrigerator, i.e. if you can resist 😅
